Dr. Mary Leigh Wolfe Named Fellow of ABET

ASABE Fellow Mary Leigh Wolfe will be honored later this month as a Fellow of ABET. ABET is the recognized accrediting body for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. The Fellow of ABET Award is presented annually to recognize as many as five individuals who have given sustained quality service to the ABET-related professions, in general, and to education within the ABET disciplines, in particular, through the activities of ABET.

Dr. Wolfe is Professor and Assistant Department Head for Teaching in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. She's being recognized "for exemplary leadership of the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission and service to ABET through contributions for improving volunteer training and criteria refinement, and for providing a model of excellence for commission editors." She served as Chair of the Engineering Accreditation Commission for the 2007-2008 accreditation cycle. Prior to that, she represented ASABE on that same commission. She's a 24-year member of the Society.

The ABET Annual Awards Banquet is held as part of each year's ABET Annual Meeting. The 2009 Annual Meeting will take place in San Antonio, October 29-30.
