Capstone Design

The BSE 4125 and 4126 Comprehensive Design Project is a two-course sequence that serves as the capstone experience for our undergraduate students. It allows students to experience working in a team environment and to apply the knowledge they have gained in their coursework to a "real-world" problem faced by the private sector. This course sequence creates an ideal environment for completing the student's undergraduate education.

Students benefit greatly from working with actual design problems that are identified by members of industry or engineering consulting firms. If you have ideas for a design project that you would like to submit, please develop a brief description of the proposed project and send to Dr. Cully Hession. A design proposal template below is available below. Email submissions are preferred but faxed (540-231-3199) or mailed proposals will be graciously accepted.
